   I was shocked to know this.When I read about it, i just said ,"What the crap?"Our own MTDC was planning to construct lavatories near Lonar sarovar,the famous and only crater in India.Now,you  will ask what is wrong in that?Well,the problem was MTDC had planned to construct those lavatories  within 50m of lake circumference with drains.Thanks to PIL filed by local authorities, the court has ordered a stay on it.Even in one's utterly foolish dreams one would be incapable of justifying it.The crater is anyways famous for the negligence it has been awarded over years by us, the Indians.The lake was recently in news for the pollution of its water caused by fertilizers and pesticides used in the vicinity area.
     Guys, I think this basic information is a must know about Lonar.The Magnificent lake is situated in Buldhana district.Its a hypervelocity crater.the water tastes salty and correct me if I'm wrong but its the only salt water lake in India.Recent studies have shown presence of magnetotactic bacteria and nitrogen fixation in its water.
     I feel ashamed of myself when inspite of spending 8 years in Vidarbha,I couldnt find time,energy and willingness to visit  this aesthetically pleasant place.The crater is going to be at the top in "to do's list" whenever I'm leaving for Nagpur.Lonar!!!!!Here I come!!!

i differ here a bit.
if we really want to develop tourism at lonar, we need the lavatories.
n where els r they going to build them and drain them?
other thing bout farming,
it is the crater. fine, so what.
i am not being insensible here.
i just want to say, is it really practical to not let farmers use fertilisers around the lake and if so to what extent and distance?
as a race on earth we are totally entitled to use and manipulate every bit of it.
we should not overdo it. that is the important thing.
we may not throw garbage, specially plastic and metal. but is a couple of lavatories really going to make so big difference, so as to make a fuss of it. the ecosystem of the lake will adjust to that.
and because of these basic things only the people will start coming there.
and maybe with that tourism money we will be able to tackle the issues better.
think about it.

@Yogendra:
1.We have learnt about lavatories in PSM.There are privies without drain.Think of aeroplane loos.They dont drain in atmosphere,do they?
2.All industries near Taj Mahal were closed down for the reason of blackening and eroding the monument.Lets agree to the fact that tourism has become an important part of our economy.And who is prohibiting farmers from farming?Its about using natural fertilizers which are equivalent or better than artificial ones, if considered for a chronic usage.See if tourism grows up in Lonar,the first hand benefit would be to local residents not government.There are other things which actually are about taking up farming land and compensating by the govt.Like,express ways,rail tracts,dams,factories[Nano ,recently].But even that I consider becomes a necessity sometimes.
